Scoping Studies - OP + UG
Technical and economic assessment of options for integrating an open-pit operation with underground development, aligning mineral resources, mine design, production plans, and future infrastructure.
An Integrated Assessment of Open-Pit and Underground Mine Development
Projects combining open-pit and underground mining require alignment between the available mineral resources, mine design, mining sequences, production capacity, and future infrastructure.
The study developed comparable development scenarios to assess technical and economic viability, identify risks, and define the additional studies needed to advance into more detailed engineering.
Challenge, Scope, and Value Delivered
Challenge
The project required an assessment of options for integrating an open-pit operation with underground development, ensuring alignment between mineral resources, mine design, production capacity, and future infrastructure.
Scope of Work
Alternative mine designs and mining sequences were developed for both mining methods, together with production schedules, infrastructure requirements, preliminary CAPEX and OPEX estimates, economic evaluation, and risk identification.
Value Delivered
The work provided a structured technical and economic basis for comparing development scenarios, prioritizing options, and defining the additional studies required to advance to the next level of engineering.
A Structured Basis for Prioritizing Options and Advancing Engineering
The assessment supported a consistent comparison of OP + UG development scenarios, integrating technical, production, economic, and risk considerations to guide the next project phases and inform decision-making.
